For example, in certain areas of Africa, such as Nigeria and Mali, polygyny is quite common and rooted in cultural traditions (Ajuwon, 2016). In these contexts, polygamy is often seen as a symbol of wealth and status, and is accepted by communities as a legitimate and socially accepted practice.

Polyandry

Polyandry, on the other hand, is a less common form of marriage or union in which a woman has multiple husbands.
