Eliud Wekesa alias 'Yesu wa Tongaren' wsa summoned by the Bungoma Police Commander Francis Kooli, over questioned teachings.
Speaking to the media, 'Yesu' pleaded with the police not to arrest him, arguing that he had done nothing wrong. He urged the police to direct their energy on capturing lawbreakers.
"I know the police commander who has summoned me is a human being. I understood that he wants us to discuss church operations. I've been at the DC, OCS, and OCPD offices and nothing has happened. I have no other business other than preaching the word. It would be unfair if they arrested me since the law punishes those who are on the wrong side. If you have done no wrong, then why be arrested?" he wondered.

An officer privy to the matter claimed that Tongaren's doctrine compelled a section of his followers not to return home and instead live at the pastor's residence.
"We have received reports that one of your followers who didn't return home after coming to your place. We also heard about another follower who, after her husband died, came to live at your place until the day they buried him. Such actions will not be allowed," the police stated.
In a rejoinder, the self-proclaimed Jesus claimed that the rumours were propagated by his enemies.
"All those allegations are lies. All of you have come to this place multiple times and have witnessed what I do," 'Yesu' stated.
This comes as President William Ruto formed a task force to review regulations governing religious organisations.
He appointed former Member of Parliament for Mbeere South Constituency, Reverend Mutava Musyimi, to lead the task force and will serve for six months.
This is after some pastors were involved in life and death scandals, starting with the faous Pastor Mckenzie, followed by Pastor Ezekiel Odero, who are both in police custody after investigations against the claims they were accused of were conducted and charged in court against the same.
